Audio Studio for the Reading Impaired Director

The Audio Studio for the Reading Impaired has named Ann Rich full-time head of operations as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. Rich, who previously was with Home Services Lending in Louisville, replaces Betty Zielinski who retired after serving as Studio Director since 1999. She joins the Audio Studio as the custom recording facility is moving from traditional analog equipment into digital production.

Rich says the organization gets involved in some unique projects. "We've been recording an instruction manual for a blind guitarist—one note at a time complete with instructions for each finger. And within the past year, we've recorded a number of consumer information brochures for the Better Business Bureau." One of her goals is to attract younger volunteers to the Audio Studio—high school and college students especially. "Narrating the diverse materials we're called on to record every day for those who are reading impaired gives young people the opportunity to meet their community service requirements and to broaden their own knowledge and improve their English skills too," she says.
